Be Cool (M)
Remember Chili Palmer, the oh-so-cool operator
played by John Travolta in Get Shorty? You might recall that we last left
him in Tinseltown calling the shots in the movie business.

In Be Cool, Chili’s back and he has
his sights set on another area of entertainment – the recording
industry. When one of Chili’s friends is killed, he pays a visit
to the guy’s wife, Edie (Travolta’s Pulp Fiction dancing partner,
Uma Thurman) and, with his usual smooth negotiating skills, passes himself
off as her new partner in her deceased hubby’s record business.

In Linda Moon (Christina Milian), Chili
has a promising new pop star, but he also has his hands full dealing with
problems like her white manager (Vince Vaughn) who thinks he’s black,
a gay bodyguard who wants to be an actor (The Rock, amusingly cast against
type), an eloquent “gangsta” music producer (Cedric the Entertainer)
and Russian mobsters! Danny De Vito reprises his Get Shorty role as Hollywood
star, Martin Weir.
