Lake Cathie is very close to the beaches and has a popular tidal lagoon. Lake Cathie is a great fishing spot, and offers wide open spaces and plenty of beaches. There are also lots of walking trails and lakes to explore among the coastal scrub land and littoral forests.

Lake Cathie is a short distance North of the Camden Haven area and Crowdy Bay National Park, and is South of the Lake Innes Nature Reserve.
