Preservation
The Park preserves The Downy Guinea Flower,
The Pygmy Cypress & The Filmy King Fern. The park is also the
habitat of the Hastings River Mouse & the Rufous Scrub Bird.
Access to Werrikimbe
Access is via Forbes River Road which heads north off the Oxley
Highway, 49km west of Wauchope. The brochure on the Park reads that
'Because of its remoteness and size Werrikimbe National Park requires
several days of exploration' - However two areas are relatively
easy to access from Wauchope.

Grass Tree Picnic Area
Overlooking a small waterfall. Very attractive in late spring &
early summer when wildflowers are in bloom. The walking track links
up with Brushy Mountain Rest Area.
Brushy Mountain Rest Area
Panoramic views facing the coast and the Macleay River Valley. Bird
life is abundant and there is drinking water available from a mountain
stream. |
